12 Step Series

I began this series to understand my sons and their journey through recovery, without pretending I understood all of it. Thirteen steps, thirteen paintings — birds stand in for people, so the steps belong to whoever needs them, not just to the people who named them.

Some of these are hard to look at for very long. Step eight is a room full of names. Step eleven is the one where the work finally stops being about willpower.

I am still working through the full set. What is here is what is finished.
